This is a small book but it has lots of good illustrations and directions of rustic creations that will inspire readers to start making their own. The first impression of the contents is a "dated" look, but after reading it front to back several times, I realized that's exactly the timeless, rustic, nostalgia I wanted. The only thing I think it lacked was good color photos but I'll take my own soon.

This is an amazing book with very cool things to construct. Originally I ordered two books on how to make the furniture. Having quite a lot of wooded area that needs to be thinned, I wanted to not waste the wood. In addition to having 4-5 inch diameter wood for the sturdier frames, I have a lot of saplings that are within the 1-11/2 inch range used for bending.Very excited to now have arbors for.........Moon flowers and Hyacinth Beans.I highly recommend this book. What a fun project for parents and children to do together!!!!!

This is a great book for gardeners & crafters to dream over. I have not yet built anything, but I did plant a few varieties of willows for their wands...sticks..... it may take a few years.

I made my first trellis this past weekend based in his design. It will be perfect with the plants I have for it. Easy directions, pictures lay it out step-by-step and plenty of room for creativity. Thank you, Jim Long.

Just what I wanted, lots of good designs! Will be making trellises with the invasive plant, privet after my sheep eat all the lower leaves so I can get access to the taller parts. Privet is not the most highly recommended plant for trellises but widely available here in GA. We have a service reclaiming over grown property using sheep and so an endless supply! see sheepsworkdotcom.

Fun book to look through. Very imaginative!

SO many ideas! Beautifully illustrated! The author speaks clearly and enthusiastically about this hobby! Though I have not been able to round up the materials or even begin a project - this book is definitely on my 'to do' list!

I ordered this book because I strongly believe she's been penalized more than enough for an utterance of over thirty years ago. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this cookbook when it arrived, and I opened it to find some very intriguing recipes. Curried zucchini and apple soup? Nice! Pickled egg and shrimp? Great! Fried green tomatoes, southern style? Those are on my list for the end of tomato season. Tonight's menu will include slow cooked short ribs in coffee.Yes, she's big on using sugar even in main entrees -- I just omit, as I do with any recipe. (I essentially ignore dessert sections of cookbooks anyway.) Where there's butter, I do use butter (or ghee), but I use common sense on amounts.This cookbook does fill in a hole in my collection -- other than Cajun, until now I had no book centered around Southern cooking. This cookbook of Paula Deen's is worthwhile in its own right, and I enjoy reading her commentary about family members with each recipe.

I just purchased this cookbook and a cute rooster napkin holder in support of Paula Deen. I think it is terrible what the media and all of the companies that are dropping her are doing to her. I have never even seen her show and I only cook because I have to eat but I ordered the cookbook anyway. Maybe I will give it to someone for a wedding present. If I were held accountable for every bad word I said 27 years ago I would be in big trouble! I hear young people use the N word all time, why is it only OK for some people to use it? Double standards I guess. I wanted to order her new book that is coming out but Bantam Publishers dropped her like a hot potatoe, maybe we should not buy any books from that publisher! A BIG Thank You to Amazon for keeping her products available!!!!!!!

This is a really fun read that includes recipes from many of Ms. Deen's extended family. I've made several of the recipes and EVERY ONE has been a hit with my family. The recipes are beautifully illustrated and easy to follow. The recipes are easy to modify if you need to watch calories/fat without sacrificing flavor. My family loves food with depth of flavor and spicy kick and this one fits the bill. I would add that the publishers who cancelled her latest cookbook are fools. To cancel distribution of an obvious bestseller appears to be calculated to hurt her financially to appease the PC crowd. I hope she sues the butter out of them.

some good recipes, easy to follow.I mainly bought this book to support Paula, I feel she was totally thrown under the busfor someones very selfish reasons. The word was spoken 30yrs ago so I've heard,and show me one person on earth who has never never ever spoken a wrong choice of wordsfor any reason. Sick world we have now.I never rate anything to the top, nothing ever is all that perfect, none of us can be!Well there is one-----Jesus---and even He would not agree that He is perfect.

I love all of Paula Deen's cookbooks! She's down to earth and uses ingredients we all have. I bought a copy for me and I think I've bought two others to use as gifts. This arrived in the time promised in good condition. Thanks for a great sale!

This cookbook is special as it has so much family information in the recipes. This is an amazing family that has again come through in tact against the odds, and I like being able to support them in my small way. The recipes are tried and true and the ones I have made have been wonderful. I tend to lower the fat and avoid frying but still maintain the integrity of the recipes. Bobby has shown the way on that. Jamie's program brings family to the forefront which is a Deen tradition. Love the book; love the people.

Came packaged beautifully and is a splendid new book. First one of Paula Deen's I have purchased. But I am looking forward to buying books with recipes compiled by Paula's son, Bobby, because he lightens the recipes which are better than Paula's as far as weight watching goes.But it is fun to have one of Paula's books to remember her by. I do miss the entertainment value of her TV shows. She has such a good sense of humor.

Paula gives typical Southern food her unique flair with help from numerous relatives. . I really enjoyed the stories that accompany each receipe. The receipes were very similar to dishes my mother cooked, having lived the east Ark and born in Alabama. I was raised in Ok. so we never had fresh seafood. I would recommend it. Hope I can buy more before the powers that be remove everything that you built. love you, Trudy D

I live, study and work in the New York Tri-State region and this book is pretty great because the author also lived, worked and studied in the same region. Whats good about that? The Human Development and Expliotation is our region is very diverse and often connects directly with other prominent regions around the globe. The author basically covers alot of legalities, origins, design principles, and field work analysis really well.This was one of the easier to read text in my classes, not because it is written in laymans terms, but he writes the ideas in a clear concise manner and covers alot of material with great efficiency using (the best I've seen in any enviro-engineering text) superb diaghrams, pictures and charts.As a whole I felt the text demystifies alot of what this field is about so I usually recommend it to other non-environmental engineers, planners and designers that I come across in my school and work.The book is expensive but I felt it was one of those few (if any) books you'll ever buy in college that is worth every penny.This one is a keeper!
