As an MBA graduate now coaching MBA students in case interviews, I have been using Marc Cosentino’s “Case in Point” books and resources for several years. There is no right answer in a case interview….this book will train you to develop and demonstrate your analytical problem solving skills! Marc offers tons of spot-on tips, nuggets of information and clear guidance, each of which is worth the price of the book. Marc walks you through well thought out frameworks, explains the recruiters’ point of view, and shares “case math” tips that will keep you out of trouble.This book not only provides tips to be successful and offers the practice and repetition required, but gives candidates the confidence to handle yourself in very stressful interview situations.

While the content of this is good, the copy of this book had several completely blank pages. This was definitely a printing issue as the page numbering stayed ordered (with “holes” in the content). I discovered this after the Amazon return window had closed. Pretty unnacceptable from a publisher standpoint.

Cosentino does it again! Marc's (10th!) update to his classic book is better than ever. As an MBA career coach - we recommend this book to all our students, and order extra copies for our lending library. While still a challenging read, the fact that this version reduced the number of sample cases and focused on the most relevant cases makes the book an even better valueWe endorse Cosentino's case methodology so strongly, we bring him in to deliver his Case methodology and training to our MBA students every year. As the Wall Street Journal states: Case in Point is he MBA Bible!

The intellectual content is fine enough, but the production values of the physical book are shockingly bad. The pages are covered in some slick oily substance which makes writing and highlighting impossible since my pen's ink won't absorb into the page. Further, every single figure or diagram in the book is blurry and pixelated. Many are such low image quality that they're difficult to read. It's shocking that a publisher or press would release such sloppily made books.

This book is simply not useful for case interviews. The frameworks are old, stale, and simply don't make you stand out in an interview. If you go into any consulting interview using these frameworks, it is clear to the interviewer that you don't know what you are doing and are relying on pure memorization.Even if you memorize everything the book has to offer, there are other framework strategies that are simpler, more customized to the case interview prompt, and much more effective. Of the 5 consulting interview prep books I have used, this one is one of the worst. I'd save yourself the $20 and look to buy something else. You'll end up returning this book or not reading it at all

About the Author

Che Guevara was the legendary Argentine-born guerrilla fighter who joined the Cuban revolutionary movement that toppled the Batista dictatorship in 1959. The more I read about Che the more And more I dislike his widow who is the editor of his journals and decides what is published and what is not. Like we know Che killed people as this was a time of war. Why omit the facts? Not to mention, I’m sure what he wrote isn’t nearly as gruesome as some of the things exiled Cubans have to say about him, but I guess in written form, that’s all the proof required to show he was what they say he was or maybe not. “Protecting his image” actually takes away from who Che was as a man and revolutionary. There are people who will love him regardless so just publish it and stop trying to convince people he was a saint and your relationship was perfect. Hopefully when she dies one of her children will republish all his works with all the information they removed from his journals and especially The sequel to the motorcycle diaries (several passages involving encounters with women were removed to protect his image allegedly). So annoying either way.On another note, you can see the difference in Che’s writing in this journal from say his other journals from Congo and Bolivia. The passages are a bit all over the place and only give a slight insight to what was happening with the use of numerous names that will hardly be remembered. Halfway through it but still consider Anderson’s biography one of the best writings about Che since he had access to the unaltered journals (minus The sequel to motorcycle diaries) and he put the information on full blast. Great photos from the Sierra Maestra and a lot of them.

I received this book as a gift. It consists of an English translation of the extant diaries written by Guevara during the Cuban Revolution. It provides unique insights into he daily life and psychology of a person in revolutionary combat. it adds to my understanding of a complex time in the history of the world and in international tensions, as well as the realities surrounding resistance to the Batista dictatorship on the island.

It’s a very good book almost 100% accurate, it was a gift to my husband and he loved.

Guevara, Che 2013 (edition) Diary of a combatant: from the Sierra Maestra to Santa Clara, Cuba 1956-58 North Ocean Press, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ISBN-10 0987077988 ISBN-13 9780987077981 .The unashamed pathology of Ernesto Guevara shows clearly in his diaries, see for instance on January 17th, 1957 while describing the attack on small garrison at La Plata, pages 49-50, he writes:"...Luis Crespo skirted around a horse pen or a pig sty[e] and wounded in the chest a soldier coming towards him. I took the soldier’s rifle from him and used him to to hide behind while shooting at a man I think I wounded...”There are seemingly endless anecdotes on such circumstances in this book. And then in the introduction there is a note by another Castro rebel on "Daniel" a non-communist anti-Batista who Guevara betrayed by not reinforcing him as were his orders; however even Guevara does not admit to this and one needs to read between the lines to understand what happened.When I still was a rebel I visited where René Gilberto Ramos Latour (code named "Daniel" ) died in late 1958 and my memory of that dread place is still with me now well fifty years later...May this book's narrations of such betrayals serve as warnings of the dangers of such as Guevara.

I thought this might be a dry read, but it certainly wasn't. The author has a good sense of the practical questions gardeners face as well as a deep understanding of botany and is able to communicate concepts without being too arcane or too popular (dumbed-down). He uses good examples that illustrate the concepts vividly, so the reader finds it easy to understand. However, the thing in my opinion that sets this book apart is the obvious delight Capon takes in botanical processes; to him, every aspect is a tiny miracle, and his sense of wonder at how it all works together is both sincere and contagious. I highly recommend this little tome for anyone, botanist or not, who wants to enter into the understanding without losing the mystery. Love it!

This reference is so easy to understand! I participated in a Master Gardener class a few years back. The information related to botany that was provided by that program was very good, and a wonderful book was available for reference purposes. But I realllllllllly wish this book had been recommended for the botany information! The illustrations are fantastic (better in my hard copy than the Kindle, understandably), but the description of the botany of plant systems really "clicked" for me when I read this book. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in knowing how plants function - the first step in understanding how to care for them and keep them healthy!! I liked the Kindle version so much, I purchased the hard copy so that I had better access to the most excellent illustrations!

This book was recommended in the lecture notes from a botany class at the U.S. National Arboretum and it lives up to the recommendation and then some. The most impressive characteristic of the book is it makes botany truly interesting and compelling. The author accomplishes this no small feat by presenting the information clearly and in a very readable style. The writing is not dense and easy to understand with no training in botany.Strongly recommend the book to anyone with an interest in plants. It gives the reader a much broader understanding of the wonder and complexity of plants. One might ask the question, "Why should I be interested in plants?" One answer is: "Plants can live without animals, animals cannot live without plants." Another answer is: Most plants cannot move and plants have amazing diversity because they cannot move. This book reveals some of the fascinating diversity of plants.

Whoah! I'm one of those people who is a hands-on learner, so to read directions about how to do somethingalways kinda snags me, but this book did a wonderful job on helping by its thorough classificationof plants and their characteristics. I've been a hard-core hobby gardener for 7 years, and I thought I knewplenty about identifying both food and herbal plants. This book proved I still have much to learn. I'm studying formy Master Herbalist Certification, and although the school has a few books about botany we must complete to graduate,I decided to add this one to get a more in depth understanding of plants and identifying them. Especially knowingwe are to be thoroughly tested on similar looking plants whereby the "twin" is actually poisonous, like Hemlock.Thank you Brian. I personally love to be able to go to different areas and States and identify plants and trees.

In and of itself, this information would be enough to make this book a good if challenging read. However, the tidbits the author scatters in passing such as the answer to the initial question above make this book all the more worthwhile.And the reason you shouldn't remove the dying leaf immediately, you ask? The plant is smarter than you think: it actually uses the time during which the leaf withers to remove nutrients and minerals to be recycled.Who knew?

What I like about this book is that, as a beginner in botany myself, it opened my eyes to better take care of plants in the garden. It's easy to read and things just tend to click the more you learn. Some of the jargon is hard to remember but the photos help understand what Capon is trying to illustrate; but sometimes he doesn't include figures which is frustrating. But after reading this book, I can now make inference on how to pollinate a flower myself, plant a seed the right way and how to cut into a tree without giving it too much trouble to heal. This book is not only for horticulture beginners but also for biology majors who are interested in plants.

“Botany for Gardeners” by Brian Capon I happened to ask a professional Botanist if there was such a thing as a credible primer on Botany written for non-scientific nature-lovers. Hoped for was a book that wouldn’t sedate me with mounds of Botano-jargon and esoteric tangents into the world of Bio-philosophy. He recommended this book highly. I thank him immensely. It’s logically organized, interesting, relevant, and written so actual people can grasp the subject matter. It’s helping me recognize and understand the plant cycles on my property and convert a few acres over to “natural area” for the benefit of birds and wildlife.

This book was required for a Botany/Horticulture Class at community college. The book is very concise and the author is very precise with every word. A very well written text! This book is very appropriate for college class, but may be too technical for the average gardener. Check it out at the local library before you buy.
