As a former New Yorker who loves the Mets..I found this tale a lovely walk down memory lane with Casey Stengel and his lovable team..win or loose..we loved the Mets!!

Well written and researched. You can pick this book up and read it for 5 minutes or for an hour. If you like the early Mets you will love this book.

great stories from a great baseball era!

I purchased this book for my father, so I can't really review the book, but I will tell you it was a great price for some baseball history.

Bought this for my dad who is a (since their beginning) Mets fan. He definately enjoyed it, reading about all the characters from back in the day.

I could never forget the Mets as I was a true Brooklyn Dodger fan and the Mets returned my interest in baseball. I still recall all the laughter with there first season

There may never be another losing team quite like the '62 Mets. They are still referred to, even by people who weren't born or old enough to remember their season of spectacular ineptitude. The editing could have been better (in one section, San Francisco is misspelled 4 times), which I guess is perfectly appropriate for a book about this team. Baseball fans young and old should have a ball reading this one.

This is a great book. Everyone in an mixed relationship should read it. Or better yet, everyone should read it. It is amazing how it portrays the natural course of the future of relationships not only in America, but in the world (that's me extrapolating, by the way, but it's true). In a global era we can't expect for things to be the same and to just be involved with people the same as we are. This book sheds some light over the way these relationships work and the many ways people have to make it work for them.

Engaging and informative for those families who would choose to raise their children with knowledge of more than one religion and tradition. This is a story about faith and belief and move beyond the boundaries of one particular tradition so that children and adults are aware of the sacred through two sets of eyes--and engagement. Most families are learning about Judaism and Christianity--but there are examples of other combinations as well.

Being Both is an insightful, thought provoking book showing how interfaith families, after decades of being told no you can't, are demonstrating that yes, they absolutely can raise children dual-faith and do so in a way that is not at all detrimental. Susan Katz Miller's primary research, including surveys and extensive interviews of couples, children, young adults, and clergy, as well as sharing her own personal interfaith experiences result in rich, moving story. As a spouse in an interfaith marriage raising dual-faith children, it was inspiring and comforting to read about others who are trying similar approaches and to know that obstacles can be overcome. I hope that interfaith couples and families as well as their extended families and clergy will read this beautifully written book to enrich their understanding of interfaith relationships and expand their perspectives on what is possible. Thank you, Susan. This is an excellent book. Well written, well edited and best of all, not apologetic at all! I was so glad to read a book that is so clearly enthusiastic about the experience of raising children in more than one faith. I found myself saying "amen" (silently, in my head, since I was on the plane) almost every page!I really hope that this book gets widely read and distributed. I feel that the interfaith communities where children are educated and families celebrate are still really hidden, so that when people do hear about them they act as if they are part of some crazy, untested theory rather than something that has been going on for years. I was surprised at how old some of the "where are they now?" kids were!I also want to thank you for your honesty in sharing your story. It's not easy. I totally understand the "sighs" you talk about. Good work.

As my husband and I discussed the idea of marriage 21 years ago, we read every book about interfaith relationships we could find. There weren't many available but they helped guide us get to where we are now. Susan Katz-Miller's book is so comprehensive and honest and hopeful. It has reaffirmed for us that the choices we made were the right ones for our family and that we are not alone. This book is great for everyone whose lives are touched by interfaith relationships at any stage of life...interesting, helpful and easy to read, it's a great resource for this day and age. Don't miss this one!

Miller’s book is a self-serving discussion justifying multi-faith religious education of children. This book is not about pluralism, interfaith dialogue or religious tolerance. However, the book is a good read on what interfaith families have to endure. The book is well detailed and document in an attempt to justify the "embracing of two or more religions in one interfaith family". The book provides much source material for the "muddying down" of religious traditional observance by replacing it with interfaith observance by children outside the mainstream of religious observance. The parents of interfaith marriages are being portrayed as being already ambivalent about institutional religion themselves with some being raised in interfaith or religion-less families. The result being that their children are being manipulated into determining which religion or religions by being made to choose for themselves being educated in two or more religions because their parents are unwilling make that choice for their children or themselves. My major concern of the book is that institutional religions are falsely portrayed as being hostile to interfaith families and children. My wife and I in an interfaith marriage of 27 years have attended both mainstream church and synagogue regularly and have been welcomed in both settings. We also raised two children. The book's objective is to have children "cherry pick" their religion or combination of religions of choice in adulthood absolving the parents of responsibility. The book’s real purpose is to portray traditional religious observance as being hostile to interfaith families already struggling to raise children in a religious environment by negating what the traditional religious education and observance has to offer.

Ladies. I LOVE this book. Equal parts inspiring and convicting (also with lots of laughs!) and, overall, a VERY enjoyable read! We read it as part of a church Bible Study over the course of a few weeks but I could have easily read this in a weekend. If I had unlimited money I would buy a case of these books and hand them out to Moms on the street. Heidi really dives into what God calls us to do as moms and how today's current culture goes against us in many ways while she motivates us to seek His guidance and inspires us to keep on keepin' on. The chapters are short and easy to read but PACKED with goodness and supported with specific Bible references for further reading. There are prayer points at the end of each chapter which are SO helpful for recapping the focus of the chapters and for praying specifically over what you've read.There is also a study guide you can buy to dive deeper but the book stands on its own two feet. I will read this book again and again and keep referencing it in the future as well as buy as gifts for mama friends.

As a young mom with 4 kiddos under 5, I often felt weary and unable to parent effectively and in a godly manner. This book was just what I needed! My favorite thing about this book is the way Heidi constantly points you back to the Word and God. We can’t teach our children to be godly young men and women if we’re not in the word ourselves and setting an example for them! The word is where we need to be looking for our answers! I also loved her prayer points at the end of every chapter! Sometimes its hard for me to think of what to pray for my family and these points were a great scripture based guide!Heidi is honest, caring and engaging! She is passionate about helping parents to be strong in the Lord and raise the next generation to love the Lord. I felt encouraged and challenged, I laughed and I cried and in the end I felt refreshed and enabled to be the godly mama I want to be.I bought 4 copies for my friends and even got my mom to read it with her bible study! They're all moms of older kiddos and grandmas. They loved it and so will you!!

I love Heidi's heart for God, for strengthening families, and for encouraging mothers of every age. That passion shows in every page of her new book. This book is everything a young (or experienced) mom needs. I definitely plan to read it often as my kids and I grow. I so wish that Heidi St. John had written this book when my kids were younger. But we were knee deep in the trenches of what she refers to “the Peanut Butter and Jelly Season” at the same time. I love the timely theme of this book and to a certain extent, how it was handled. Immigrants include not only people from many cultures but each has their own reasons for immigrating.This book focuses on the immigration to Australia and shows how many people have moved there due to very differing reasons. The author includes a wide range of countries as the origin of the presented immigrants. Each immigrant child is introduced with their originating country, followed by an explanation why they left and what made them stay or how their life has improved. The text is short (usually four lines) and each child is presented on a two-page spread. The last pages introduce a girl who is still in the refugee camp waiting for entrance, followed by a general message about how immigrants are very welcome and wonderful friends too.While this is a lovely picture book with a wonderful message, I'm not sure how it will meet the intended audience. The recommended age of eight and up is necessary, since many younger readers and listeners will not necessarily grasp the concepts behind immigration or recognize the countries mentioned. The text, however, is too simple for the older age group and doesn't go deep enough into the subject material. Also, most American children won't recognize the Australian cities mentioned, but, on the other hand, there's a map at the end which helps out. If nothing else, children learn more about Australia as well.There is a wonderful message in these pages, one that helps kids gain a greater understanding of immigration and the people themselves. It helps to close the gap of foreignness and presents the various kids in a way which makes them as normal as any other child. Still, a little more depth would have been nice, since this grazes quickly over each situation. Also, there is no mention of the original inhabitants of Australia, the Aboriginal, which was too bad considering the immigration history of Australia....which also isn't mentioned since this book only takes a look at the immediate generation.The message in this book is very important and it offers a lovely way to open up to the topic of immigration and even plants the first seeds to a better understanding of the theme and immigrants themselves.I received a complimentary copy and found this to be an inspiring read. So, I wanted to leave my honest thoughts.

Oh how I love the way Mem Fox discusses immigration on these pages. Australia is a country built almost entirely on immigrants and she shows the universality of this experience, but also the differences in country, circumstances, and reasoning. It's an overview so it obviously doesn't capture every person's story and it definitely generalizes, but I think it's such an important book. It reminds us that immigration is not a new thing. It's not something we need to fear. It's not something that only "other" people experience. It is a part of the past - almost certainly your own past - just as much as it is a part of our present day. My only question now is - when will someone write the American version of this book?Note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

If you like cultural diversity, rhyming read alouds, and stories about how immigrants make the world a better place, you will love this book. Characters in this book come to Australia from all over the world; from places like China, Ireland, Syria, Lebanon, Vietnam, Somalia, and more. They each talk about how life was hard in their country, but how they are doing so much better now that they are in Australia. You know you are getting an amazing read aloud when you get a book from Mem Fox, and she delivers here too. Readers will understand how much immigrants add to the country they go to after reading this book. It’s a great reminder, especially in our time, that immigrants are people too; people who are escaping hard times and hoping to be welcomed into a country where they can be safe and thrive.

If you are looking for a cookbook with big beautiful four color pictures in it-this isn't it. Though, the book does have some pictures, and some are in color. This book is a how-to book with about 1000 pages of recipes, and information, along with product and ingredient recommendations. I've been watching ATK for some years now, pressing pause on the TV, taking iPhone shots and taking notes of things that capture my interest. I think this book might put an end to the note taking because I should be able to look things up, and have more detail than my notes. This book is for the kitchen, not the coffee table.

5 stars for the recipes, 1 star for how they lazily cut and put the pages in this book. Some of the pages are cut so I can't even see the page number! And the top of a whole section are stuck together and smaller than the other pages in the rest of the book. I have to tear them apart and it rips the top of the pages. This is unacceptable for a brand new book to release this quality.

I have enjoyed America Test kitchen and their delightful chefs and experts for many years. So when I decided to purchase their ATK Complete Cookbook 2001-2019 I was immediately disappointed when I opened the shipping box. First of all it was incredibly heavy. Then the print is way too small. Much more like a textbook than a practical cookbook. I will be sending this monstrosity back for a refund. In the future I sincerely hope ATK puts as much thought into their cookbooks as their recipes.

I think this will be my to-go cookbook. So far I have reviewed several receipes and they look excellent. I had purchased the Milk Street Cookbook but it was too gourmet for me. This is a basic cookbook, with some photos - and I most likely will be retiring my Joy of Cooking. I do want to compare it to a new Betty Crocker Cookbook which I ordered, but I truly believe this is the best basic cookbook one can buy.

Some of the recipes shown on tv does not appear in the latest version of America’s test kitchen. The advertising is a lie. I will not be fooled again. I will not purchase version 20 should there be one

I've read some reviews complaining about the weight of this book, but it is an absolute comprehensive guide to cooking. This is the second one I've purchased as a gift for my friends who love to cook. It is wonderful for new cooks and seasoned pros. This one has more recipes in it than the last one I purchased. I appreciate how tools, techniques, and elements of baking and cooking are broken down for the reader. For those who don't like the weight of the book, I would suggest getting a nice cookbook stand to hold this while you are using it. I'm sure I will be buying this again in 2019.

This is the only cookbook that you need to own! The recipes inside of it are fantastic and always turn out perfectly. They test their recipes over and over again to make sure they will turn out great. Some of the steps seem a little strange, but they know what they are talking about! Each recipe has a section before it that explains how it works and why it works. It's very interesting just for that reason!

I started making the recipes the 1st day getting this book. I wish I had more time to cook to make more. Everything is delicious and it explains why. Why didn’t I buy this sooner?

This book does not have enough focus on 1 or 2 areas of Farm Antiques to provide adequate illustrations. This is probably a better tool for someone with more familiarity with farm antiques than I do. I got lucky in that the primary piece I was searching for was among the illustrations. There are descriptions of many types of farm antiques for field, barn and house. Never having lived on a farm, most of it went right out of my mind because I had no frame of reference to go with the brief description. If it had more illustrations it would have been better.

Very good coverage of a huge number of artifacts. Good easily have a volume two.
