I expected this book to provide more up-to-date information and more guidance than I have been able to find on the internet. Although this book contained a lot of good information that has remained true over time, it was very general. The book contained many things that I already know. Although I have never gone to cosmetology school, this information would have served me well if I needed a refresher in the basics. I have afro-textured hair, and I have had to learn to take care of it on my own (since it looks better on my head than on the floor or in the trash) based on my current location. This book is ok if you need to learn very basic things. The language in which it is written is simple.

I have purchased and read several books on turbo and supercharging. This is by far the most clear and concise book I have found on the subject. It is easily readable, well illustrated explanation of how supercharging works and lays out all the general parameters that someone needs to supercharge an engine. This is not a nitty gritty book of exact materials and clearances, but it is a great overview of the subject. I think a mechanically inclined individual could easily use this book to help build a supercharged setup. I own a 2007 Chevy Cobalt Supercharged SS coup and this book makes it easy to see how it all works.

Since I've been working on cars for over 40 years now, I have to admit I've skimmed some of it. Good sections on the calculations needed and covers pretty much all the details you should know before messing with a supercharger. I've got one or two other books from Corky Bell and have enjoyed them as well. Book is organized and written well, not too complicated; but you do need to have some automotive smarts. I do find it amusing to see photos reused in more than one book I have on the subject. But I also like the common question/answer bits at the end of chapters. Good book and reasonable price for those wanting to get started with supercharger systems.

If you had to choose just one book on supercharging to make an educated decision it would be this one. It starts out with basic engine thermodynamics and moves on to every aspect up to installation. All inclusive and very informative. The layout of the the books information reminds me of an older book "The Design and Tuning of Competition Engines" which most hardcore motor heads agree is a great book. From theory to application this book is written in plain language so you do not need an engineering degree to understand it, but it does delve very deeply in every chapter. It gives you the foresight and knowledge that will help you make informed desicions on what to buy and how to set up you supercharger. With so many books on the subject that are more photos than infomation I lucked out by stumbling on this one. I highly recommend it.

This is my third acquisition in the forced-induction category and, as a car-guy with a university engineering degree, more to my liking. Math, charts, and a quick survey or alternative systems.However, the rigor does not approach the level of university level text book.To move further in that direction Bell would have had to include at least conceptual overviews of the 1st thermodynamic law, adiabatic processes, heat transfer, and the ideal gas law/equation. I think this would provide worthy context, yet make it no less accessible to the general public.Also as a noob to supercharger systems, I could have benefited from a system diagram early on, showing the relation of components along with the lexicon.

This one of my favorite books of all time. Lots of good information. It's just as good as 'Maximum Boost' another book by Corky Bell.

This book covers supercharging in a clear and methodical way. I am finding it the perfect coverage for working out what I need for my supercharger project.My only complaint would be that it is focused on the US car market, so it is not in metric and doesn't cover motorcycles, though the explanations are clear enough that the info can be easily converted.

Easy to read. Easy to understand, but dated in terms of pros and cons of current technology and therefore down right wrong in certain comments re centrifugal and roots type.

This is a Zadie at her best, I feel. As a speaker/thinker/writer on culture and language, she is gifted and able to think through events and experiences in a way that really gives the reader a fresh perspective. I tore through this in two days (though do NOT buy the Audible version as I purchased both just to support her. The audiobook sadly presents her work by a different reader who is dull and reads as though she's half asleep without the charm and nuance that Zadie has when you hear her speak during readings/lectures/presentations/interviews. The reader chosen just absolutely kills the work. Think some conservative man without inflection reading David Sedaris. This is just an opinion but if you can just read it and that way you have her voice in your head when you do). That said, the essay collection is truly phenomenal. Her ability to go high low and interweave culture and social perspectives is really a wonderful reading experience.

A brilliant book of essays by a gifted writer. When it arrived I was browsing through it and over and over again a few lines would catch my eye and I would end up reading a few pages. Finally decided to drop the other books I was reading and start on this immediately. She has some great insights to our world.

The current cultural landscape is a wasteland littered with superheroes, fast cars, and enough visceral responses to elicit bar-fight-style brawls out in public.It is refreshing then to read the essays in “Feel Free” as they feel like a cerebral rollercoaster, full of inverted perceptions on our current state of affairs as well as an in-depth look at things people take for granted.Take for example her essay on Facebook titled “Generation Why.”Smith compliments Zuckerberg for the achievement of developing one of the largest online communities, but she also points out some negative sides to Facebook. How some people use the social media platform in a solipsistic manner to confirm their own views of the world.But the essays are not limited to commentary on our social interactions. One focuses on an interview with Jay-Z, and how Smith compares the rap superstar to “Paradise Lost” author John Milton. How both employ the power of boasting to further their artistic forms to reach the apex of their respective forms.The one section which I could do without is her most lengthy set of essays in the collection, all under the header the Harper’s Columns. This is not to say these pieces are written poorly by any means. They are stylistically quite good, as is to be expected from Smith. No, they just feel out of place in the larger context of the collection.While the other essays are concerned with social issues, cultural pieces, and experiences strolling through a garden, this small collection feels like a friend talking to you about a book you haven’t read or significant points in a movie you haven’t seen. There are no spoilers per se, just a bit of confusion if you haven’t read the books she is reviewing.The essays are thoughtful and fun though. Readers will laugh from time-to-time, and they will also stop to ponder art, politics, and everything in between.

Zadie is a great essayist. You won't be disappointed. My family is reading these essays aloud in the evening.

Very repetitive. It was used as a textbook but we could barely use it in class because the chapters were all over the place and in no particular order. Kinda seemed like it could be summed up in one, pretty short facebook article. Definitely a 4/10 waste of time, only made better by how short it seems.

It seems like the author was forced to meet a certain word count because it's extremely repetitive. It's a little all over the place.

My daughter loves these pop-up peek a poo books that we have all of them. She started reading this book when she was four months old and it held her attention then and still does at six months old. The book has great colors and pictures and we both like the story line. I never get board reading this book.

This book is definitely a hit with my son! He is 1yr and 8 months. Good quality too.

Seems like a pretty good book, and even sturdy for a pop-up. I would have rated it better, except that it features a dump truck on the cover, but there isn't even a dump truck inside. My daughter loves dump trucks, and keeps pointing at the cover (the reason I purchased the book was I thought it would at least have the truck featured on the cover). It does contain a couple of other things she likes, but she seems to prefer the beat-up truck books I picked up at thrift stores.

Great book! My toddler loves all the pop up peekaboo books. They are a quality product at a good price. My little one is so curious, he typically ends up taking apart/destroying his books. This book is one of his favorites. It's not exceptionally fragile, but not crazy rugged either. Well made & entertaining, yet inexpensive enough to replace if it gets too beat up.We will keep buying DK's pop up peekaboo books for ourselves and others as gifts.

My 13 month old loves this book, but as others have said, I can't leave him alone with it as the pop ups are quite delicate. The flaps are sturdy (cardboard) but the pop ups are just like any other pop up book. Personally I do not like the style of the images - a combination of simple illustrations and pictures of real toys, but my kid doesn't seem to mind. I would rather have seen nice illustrations and/or pictures of real items and people.

These are my 1 year old’s favorite books and have been for months! The pop ups are very detailed and he enjoys pulling them. We’ve had to repair them a couple times but overall they are great.

Bought this for my neighbor's son's birthday (2 yrs old). It was well received with another interactive book. He really enjoys interactive and pop ups.

So cute. Maybe store it high up and only let him/her read it with you. My 2-year-old got it off the shelf and ripped out most of the popups. He did love to read it though. *shrugs*

I purchased this book for my 17 month old grandson. And I think it is a bit to old for him. It is bigger than I expected it to be and the pictures and story line are too much for him at his age. I will put this book away for now and wait until he is older. It is a great book for a 3 year old and has really fun popups and pictures.

I heard this diet through my co worker, he's been trying this diet for 2 weeks now and even I can see some changes. This book helped me a lot in understanding this type of diet and its difference form Atkins diet, it's not just a recipe book, there's more to it than that. From planning meals to maintaining this diet more than 30 days, this book will provide you information for that! The recipes looked great, I can't wait to try them specially the salads! 😍 I hope I can do this diet challenge successfully! ☺️❤️

Very disappointed with this. There is no indication of the number of servings for the recipes. I take it that most are for one serving and then suddenly a recipe requests 3# of ground meat -- for one serving?? Or how can one use 1/4 cup of coconut oil for a 2 egg omelet that also has bacon in it? Yikes! That is a lot of oil!! The black and white pictures of the food are also very unappetizing. Could have been so much better!

This was a poorly written - probably self published description and recipes of the paleo diet. For the price paid, it was certainly not worth it. There were many grammatically incorrect sentences, and the black and white photos make the food very unappetizing. It was a mistake to have purchased this book.

I'm concerned that I couldn't find the publisher and that there are definite misprints throughout the book. Nobody could possibly mean to use 1/4 cup of Ground Cumin, a 1/4 cup of cayenne pepper, and a 1/4 cup of black pepper when you're only using a 1/4 cup of chicken. It makes me wonder about the validity of the other recipes.

The paleo diet, however, avoids these pitfalls because the focus of paleo is not merely the reduction of carbs but also the refinement of the actual nutrients that we put into our body. Before you do anything else, when you are starting on a paleo diet, the first thing on your list; should be a shopping list. You don’t have to be utterly systematic with this, just as long as it fits in the basic parameters of a paleo-centric lifestyle. People are often surprised to find out that peanuts are a legume and not a part of the nut family at all. Dieting is hard enough without having to struggle to put your meals together. This is precisely why diet programs like Jenny Craig are so successful because they do that part of the work for you. Thanks for the creator. Useful guide!
