OVER half of the cards are just Explain this and Explain that. It is not a Flashcard Study. If you think you are getting all examples and explanations this is not what we expected!

This packet does not have vocabulary flashcards.

Pretty helpful for studying for the ssat but most of the stuff on the flashcards was not on the test.

The ISEE flashcard system worked great; my child's scores increased over the SSAT scores. This system will be useful as a refresher for any other standardized testing systems.

We liked the selection of practice problems for the SSAT and the explanation accompanying the answers.

Many type errors. It is not worthy for the money. My son didn't like it and would like to return it.

It is one of the best ways I have found to help students with passing the ISEE entrance exam. It is a fantastic study skills program.

I work as a private tutor and test preparation materials are really important, so I thought I would share a critical review of this product. First of all, the questions in the product are fine. They are topically correct and I have not noticed any misprintings or serious typos. The explanations for the answers are also adequate.However, this book deviates from the way the official SSAT test review book is laid out. Furthermore, there are no time guidelines in this book: to find out how long each test is you must consult the official SSAT test prep book. Additionally, the sections of the verbal and reading comprehension occur in the wrong order in this book, and the publishers of this book do not provide an answer sheet. Thus the student cannot actually practice bubbling in answers.For some this may not be a big deal, but the point about standardized testing is to get good at standardized testing. I think the publishers of this book would do well to provide two test sheets along with their tests, to give timing guidelines, scoring guidelines and to make their product LOOK like an actual SSAT test. I therefore recommend it for practice questions, but not much else.

Superb writing for a brand new series! Having read several of T.K. Chapin novels it was exciting to be a part of his ARC team. I received an ARC free of charge to post an honest review of this writers work. Quickly becoming wrapped up in the story line was easy. The hometown, real life situations put you right there on the page with the characters. His writing style allows you to feel the hope, hurt, self doubt, oh yes tears of heartache at times. This wasn’t a story heavy on the depression side but a birds eye view of what the characters or your best friend might have felt under the circumstances. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a copy to give my daughter. It’s a joy to read such enjoyable work by a Christian writer. Hope, faith, forgiveness, redemption. All of these topics spoke to my heart as a reminder that even with all my imperfections Jesus is always there to lift us up along the stormy path of life. Thank you Benjamin. Bravo for a great start on a new series! Can’t wait for the next journey.

A very well written Christian Romance. I loved having each chapter written as a different point of view. The characters weren't perfect. They were normal, flawed people who wanted to love God first and each other second.I don't give away storylines but some parts of the story are intense. It's not your typical romance. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I was given an ARC but I enjoyed the book so much I bought my own copy. All opinions are my own and freely given.

While the concepts are important the mechanics are painful. The reader is jerked around by words emotions and poor research. I cant recommend this use of time even for a free book. I'm eager to get this put of my head so I'll neglect and forget all but a couple examples. It is overly emoting and much is unrealistic. I reread much and never found why she grew up with a bodyguard...and why she had no need after a trivial embarrassment. "Garrett" pops in never explained or contribution unless the search function is disabled? I dont even want to know intimating cameras! Pushing false social myths on mental illness is the most sickening to see especially a "Christian" author.

Normally I detest reading stories with an evil villain, but the description had another focus of the story, and it’s true, there was more good depth to the story than I might have thought, had I really understood before I started reading. God certainly gets the glory in this book, which is the way writers should write. There’s even a line of compassion for the broken man, which also sets this story apart from others that use the crutch of an evil villain to make a story. In fact, most of the story is about people interacting and relationships, and that’s what makes it good.

Love's Return, book one of a new series by T.K. Chapin, takes us on a trip from NY to WA right off the bat. Excited to get to see some of the characters from the well-loved Diamond Lake Series.This is a story of a young couple who knew each other but then went on with life...five years later life has happened and is happening when they run into each other again. Chapin did a good job of taking us on a trip in the book with a touch of suspense, love, and faith.My favorite character is probably Kirk because he seems like the one that has the most to overcome. I like that the author is able to encourage readers with their walk with the Lord by making characters that most anyone can relate to.I'm excited to start this new series. I recommend this book!

This was a Christian based story line. The two people were friends who took a drive across the country to new beginnings. Now five years later she sees him for the first time in years. He has changed since she last knew him. She works for a Christian based news magazine. As a reporter she goes where the boss sends her. But along the way she has picked up a stalker who intends to hurt her. Kirk is a bodyguard now and eventually assigned to her. With the will of God all things will be known. He is going to make sure that she is protected. Will she be in safe hands with Kirk? Or will she need to go back home? Will they see God's plan before it is too late?

Would he call, 5 years, he seemed lost. Jessica the first thing he had felt without pain. She has a stalking, hiring a bodyguard when she is out of a news story. Brings Kirk back into her life, he has changed. Forgiveness of his loss, before he can begin again. Beautiful story once again by Chapin on forgiveness, love and second chances.

Mr. Chapin never fails to inspire and teach and entertain all in one fell swoop. This book is no exception. Some mystery, some romance, some Bible truths and the application of those truths; it's all there in a fascinating story. I particularly appreciated that returning to God's love was a main theme. Characters are realistic and interesting. Cannot wait to read Book 2, Love's Promise. Highly recommend this book for anyone who love's good Christian fiction.

I ordered this book for some children in Virginia who will be moving to the SF Bay Area. It was shipped directly to them. I just know that it arrived before Christmas (which I didn't even care about, but was a plus).Thanks.

I bought this book for my grandaughter when we traveled to San Francisco. She loved it and the illustrations were great!

Bought this for my 6 year old niece to go with the dress I bought her in China town. Shipped it back because I felt it was inappropriate for a child. I didn't want to expose her to the rainbow flag or to comments about the use of illicit drugs in the Haight, no matter how PC. The illustrations were nice, however.

Journey Series is FANTASTICThese books are great to encourage children to read and are a great way to introduce places they are visiting.The illustrations are just lovely and a great way to 'slip' in some culture.

I enjoyed the focus on Strenger's creations with Porsche. As a collector of early Porsche literature, I was only vaguely aware of the man behind the brush. This book highlighted some of his best early work as a marketing creator.The latter par of the book dealt with his career after working with Porsche. It was only mildly interesting to me. If his latter career, although wildly acclaimed, was the sum and substance of the book I would not have purchased it.

Craig B. Wiener, EdD, has worked for over thirty years to help individuals diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. I don't think that the author's intent is to find blame, but rather to have parents feel empowered --- they actually CAN do some things to create changes in children's responses.I believe that one thing that causes some confusion is the difference between medical diagnoses and mental health diagnoses. Medical diagnoses (e.g. strep throat) are black and white. It IS strep throat and we know what causes it and how it is cured. Alternatively, mental health diagnoses are very different. They are purely descriptive. The manual used (now DSM 5) lists a series of symptoms, and, if the patient identifies with X number of symptoms, the diagnosis can be made. What it does NOT indicate is WHY the person is exhibiting this set of symptoms of WHAT may be a solution to change. So, in ADHD children may identify with the same set of symptoms, but for very different reasons. It is the role of the clinician to work with the patient and/or family to discover why these symptoms are occurring, and, once that happens, the solution becomes clearer.There are many contributing factors to someone behaving in a particular way and Dr. Wiener offers the consideration of reinforcement as a way of understanding the behavior and some "hands on" techniques to avoid patterns that may be reinforcing negative behavior and introduce others that could create reinforcement of the behavior patterns we are seeking.

Having attented two presentations by Dr. Wiener and having read his book "Parenting Your Child With ADHD..." I find his methods and research both easy to incorporate and sensible. I taught middle school, high school, and college for 36 years and wish that Dr. Wiener could have spoken with parents and other educators. Yelling and threatening may "work" but do not solve long term behavorial issues. Respect and responsibility, cornerstones of changing behaviors, are what Dr. Wiener advocates.

Hard to follow for the layman like me, seems like good advice but not put in a way everyday people would understand

I have a seven-year-old son whose mother and half-brother have both been diagnosed with ADHD. My son has not been recommended for evaluation, probably because he is gifted, but he does sometimes display behaviors that look like ADHD. This book changed the way I thought about ADHD and how best to approach it. Just last night, we had a family conversation regarding a problem behavior that went much better than I expected--my son remained calm and helped brainstorm solutions--and I can only credit that to our use of the suggestions in this book.In Dr. Wiener's view, ADHD is a set of behaviors that a child has learned to do, rather than a disability. He illustrates this distinct possibility with plenty of examples that anyone who has spent time around children can relate to. But you don't even need to buy into that view to start helping your child change his or her behavior, because Dr. Wiener's guidelines are grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy, which is proven to be effective at helping people change the way they think and behave.This book will help you analyze certain of your child's behaviors. If you can see how sometimes your child's "ADHD" behavior might net him or her certain psychological rewards--via any one of the five A's of attention, accommodation, avoidance, acquisition, and antagonism--you can change the consequences of (i.e., your responses to) that behavior so that it no longer has the same result. When your child learns through experience that he or she can better benefit by using different behaviors, those different behaviors will eventually replace the old ones. Keep in mind, Dr. Wiener says, that your child isn't necessarily consciously "using" ADHD behaviors to get what he or she wants--it just happens that over time your child has found that certain behaviors usually result in certain desirable consequences (e.g., if your child forgets that she has homework, she can spend more time playing video games), and so these have become habits. Dr. Wiener's stance is that as with any habit, ADHD behaviors can be changed. It may take work and patience, but you will see results!Even if you have already made the choice to medicate your child for ADHD and seen drastic improvement, the behavior change principles in this book still apply and will help your child for the rest of his or her life. After all, one day your child may go off medication or it may no longer be as effective as it once was.Written clearly and intelligently, this book is filled with tips and exercises. It includes easy-to-find sections that outline how you can change the way you talk to your child to let him or her know that his or her behavior is a choice and that you can work together to figure out better solutions. These are great for photocopying and hanging up around the house as reminders. Dr. Wiener emphasizes that when you treat your child as capable of meeting expectations and show this through your words and your actions, your child will grow into bigger roles and responsibilities, whereas if you keep your expectations low your child will continue to be more dependent on you and others.In conclusion, this is a good guide for any parent of a school-age child, because every parent should strive to cultivate certain qualities in their children (e.g., independence, self-reliance, confidence, problem-solving skills, and consideration of others) in order to help mold well-functioning, capable adults. Whether or not your child has been diagnosed with ADHD, the guidelines in this book can help you decrease ADHD-type behavior, help your child meet expectations both in school and at home, and make your lives easier in the long run (improving your relationship with your child in the process, when you no longer have to constantly remind, reward, or punish your child!). I expected this book to provide more up-to-date information and more guidance than I have been able to find on the internet. Although this book contained a lot of good information that has remained true over time, it was very general. The book contained many things that I already know. Although I have never gone to cosmetology school, this information would have served me well if I needed a refresher in the basics. I have afro-textured hair, and I have had to learn to take care of it on my own (since it looks better on my head than on the floor or in the trash) based on my current location. This book is ok if you need to learn very basic things. The language in which it is written is simple.
