I’m not into candles but I got this book for my mother who loves candles. Since I have it, I decided to read it so I can relate with my mom. I can’t believe how concise this book is, perfect for my mom who doesn’t want to read complicated books. The author made sure that all topics covered and understandable. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. My mom is so happy making candles at her home now. She loves experimenting on scents and making personalized scented candles as her present. She now has a new hobby that keeps her busy. I’m so glad I took this book for my mom though I’ll have to make room for more candles.

I give this book three stars because it doesn't have colour photos to see what the waxes look like and the details of them. But it does explain how it's done so I can understand what to do.

Good read! Excellent starting point for a new hobby. I will be starting and trying some of the techniques in this book by next week. I am so excited! Richards, does a good job making this an easy and understandable read.

This "book" is junk. I can't believe Amazon allows this worthless nonsense to be sold. I seriously want my money back as this is clearly a scam. There is literally nothing useful in this "book". It contains no technical information or processes. Don't be fooled like I was. Avoid this junk

This book is a great guide to making your own candles at home. The instructions are easy to follow. There were lots of creative ideas for making decorative candles, including ice candles and using spray paints and glitter. If you are looking for a easy read on making your own candles, this is it!

I really got this book for the ice candle instructions. It has been 5 decades since I made one as a kid, and I want to do it again. I love candles and want to try making some for myself.

Short but I guess you don't really need more. The editing and organization is not the best. There are quite a few errors.

Read this in a day, mostly common sense and a great reminder for when your just starting . Good info

My father in law with dementia has declared this series to be the best he's read in his life. He can't follow a plot anymore, which is good because this book doesn't have one. It's definitely for people with cognitive impairments. It doesn't talk down to the reader, and it uses a normal adult vocabulary. My father in law reads the series daily. These books are expensive, and its easy to take a first glance and think that you got ripped off because the stories are so simple and devoid of conflict of any type. It is obvious that this series can't hold the interest of anybody without memory issues. However, if you keep in mind the intended audience, they are a gold mine. They bring my father in law enjoyment daily, and each day, for him, it's a fresh read. The pictures are nice, and the book does not indicate in any way that its for memory impared people. I wish there were more like it. He was an avid reader, and this allows him to continue to enjoy books.Just a quick heads up for anybody who is dealing with this kind of issue, we were able to use comic books and graphic novels until fairly recently. I'd try those first before jumping to these. Dick Tracy, Archie and Beatle Bailey comic collections had stories he could follow until fairly recently, when he lost the ability to use the pictures to give him clues to the story.

I work as an In-home Caregiver, primarily working with senior citizens living with Dementia. I am always looking for activities that are fun and cognitively stimulating for my clients. I loved the premise surrounding this book, one of several books on this "reading level" by this author. I was so very disappointed when this purchase arrived. The book is thinner than an elementary school child 's chapter book. The writing style is chapter book style. The print is an average (smaller) font. The paper used in this paperback is cheap and flimsy (not easy for elder fingers to turn.) The colorful picture MAY be colorful but it is hard to tell because they are so miniscule (approx. 3"x4") that they are hard to see. For the exorbitant price, I had hoped for an excellently developed product. Sadly, I had to return this book...too many flaws in user friendliness. Not worth the price.

Inspired by my mother's enjoyment of an Emma Rose Sparrow book I checked out of the library for her to read, I bought this one for her. It's the story of a woman who is encouraged by her daughter to try and find three things that are wonderful in each day.As she did with the book from the library, my mother loved this book, and even carried it to a doctor's appointment, like she used to before books became too difficult for her to handle. If you have a loved one who was an avid reader, but can no longer do so because of memory issues, these books are wonderful. I recommend buying hard copies, because a Kindle will be too hard to work after a while. One rather poignant benefit to having these books: they will never grow old in your loved one's mind. Each day, they will be new.

This is a short story split into several chapters and accompanied by full color pictures that actually go along with the story, which I really like. My nana loved the other chapter books I bought by this author, and now we have them all! She is still able to read short paragraphs on most days and I believe these books really complement the brain activities her doctor has her do to help with the symptoms of Alzheimer’s.

My mother in law who has dementia in the middle stages loves this book. It's easy to read and understand, and she even left a note for me saying that it lifted her spirits on a day when she was down in the dumps. Hope there will be more books like this coming out.

A cute story with good humor. So nice for a senior who can't follow long text books. Was deeply enjoyed and I think, will be re-read many times!

My mom enjoys reading this book time and again. Finally a book she can read all the way through and not have to keep starting over because she forgets characters or story lines.

very enjoyable and pleasant for busy minds. slows a person down

#19,810 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I bought the 2019 version. If you are looking for expert recommendations in a concise and meaningful reference guide, do not buy this book.I’m a busy dad trying to get the most out of my Disney trip. This book is completely inaccessible as a reference guide. It’s nearly worthless. It’s a 800+ page tome that might have good recommendations buried in it somewhere between the pages and pages of unnecessary extrapolation, worthless quotes from other readers, and puffery about how Disney is ripping me off. This book stinks.

Our first trip to Disney was in the late 80s and the Unofficial Guide was my best friend. It gave me the information that made our trip a success. Of course, it was about 300 pages then. Now it’s over 800 and we have the internet. The guide, however, is the most comprehensive source for Disney World and it includes some good information on Universal Studios and Sea World. In addition to the astounding amount of detail, it offers advice from seasoned travelers to Disney World. It goes right down to the color of the carpet and drapes and when they installed.Even if you don’t need that level of detail, you ought to find adequate information to help in planning your trip. If not - the guide also gives you information on the highest rated travel agents that specialize in Disney World.

Every time we decide to go to Disney, the first thing I do is obtain the newest version of the Unofficial Guide. The first few trips it was crucial. If you don't have a battle plan (a more fitting name for the Touring Plans), you'll never survive Magic Kingdon. Seriously, the book tells you everything you need to know about the rides, the food, the transportation system, and many other vital areas. Most importantly, the book will SAVE YOU MONEY! It discusses and rates the resort hotels and the dining establishments for value. It explains the various tickets packages and the dining plans helping you to choose wisely whether a package deal is a good fit for your needs. Finally, if you've been multiple times in recent years and think you've got it down, Disney changes things. Fast Passes work differently. The dining plans have been tailored to fit more families' needs. You get the drill. I've been 33 times and I always learn something new that saves me money or time or stress.

I like that this book is impartial. The authors don't try to sell you on WDW, but tell you both side of the stories. After reading the introductory chapters, and reflecting on the needs of our family... we actually decided to cancel our reservation. Between the added parking fees, and the constant increase of prices, and the constant wait for everything... we decided the money would be better spent making multiple vacations exceptional instead of one exceptional week at Disney. If you want an impartial book that tells both sides of the story, I highly recommend this book. Added note: we have been to Disney before on our honeymoon... a lot has changed since then...

Much of the ranking for rides/attractions is way off. For example Star Tours ride gave some of the warnings but did not mention the sudden jerking of the ride. Listed seniors as over 4 stars and I hated it! I had to hold my neck and brace myself the whole ride. They gave the Pixar 3D at Epcot as NO STARS. My husband, myself & grandchildren all loved it! Pixar and Soaring are our favorites at Epcot. They showed no positive reviews for Hall of Presidents; just "nice place to nap" or "breastfeed"...so offensive!

I have purchased this guide several times over the past 20 years. No other guide compares to it. Everything you need to know about Disney World is in it. I like that they rate the rides from 1 to 5 stars, breaking it down to seniors, young children, teenagers, etc. It helps tremendously with planning a Disney trip.

I took time to read this book and I enjoyed this book. I learned several important facts and wrote down my own cheat sheet to use when I am at DW. This book has several good tips for the grand kids too. My wife has begun the recommended pre vacation walking routine in this book.

Comprehensive, complete, accurate, well designed, excellent! Really 4.8 stars, because it's not very pretty. If you want a pretty book get Birnbaum's guide: it's extremely beautiful. But this book is the one for people who want complete and really detailed information.

The Great Inversion and the Future of the American City, by Alan Ehrenhalt

Review

“The Great Inversion is a must read for anyone concerned with American cities, urbanism, and the future of the way we live. . . . The future of the city is the future of America and the world. Alan Ehrenhalt shows us how a desire for urbanism is bringing people back to America’s downtowns, and what suburbs and communities of all sorts must do to thrive in the future.” —Richard Florida, author of Who’s Your City? “[Ehrenhalt’s] provocative, nuanced examination of the dynamics of change encourages the reader to apply his insights to cities closer to home. . . . Alan Ehrenhalt’s fascinating new book, The Great Inversion . . . finds that American cities are doing a very un-American thing: reshaping themselves in the mold of European capitals, where the privileged live in the city center, orbited by rings of immigrants and other strivers in the poorer suburbs” —Commentary “Fascinating. . . . A convincing case. . . . Mr. Ehrenhalt’s travels have given him a front-row view of ‘The Great Inversion.’ . . . Alan Ehrenhalt has traveled to towns and cities across the land and witnessed firsthand the early stages of what surely will be nothing short of a social transformation.” —The Washington Times “[A] mix of sharp-eyed observation and analysis. . . . Weaving census and public-opinion data throughout, Ehrenhalt displays the same narrative and reporting skills he put to good use in The Lost City.” —City Journal“Ehrenhalt takes his reader on a tour of the changing American cityscape . . . An enjoyable and engaging read, especially for those considering a move back to the city . . . Solidly researched with great questions asked and plenty of hard facts and anecdotal answers provided.” —Christian Science Monitor“Books about cities tend to be polemics. An author decides what’s right and wrong about how we live, then marshals anecdotes and rhetoric to buttress the case. There’s another way to approach the topic: in person and on foot, following one’s instincts but open to nuance along the way. Alan Ehrenhalt follows that path, to our benefit, in his new book The Great Inversion and the Future of the American City. . . . Ehrenhalt’s sympathies are with movements like new urbanism and smart growth, but these sympathies don’t blur his sharp eye for details or the wry clarity of his prose.” —San Francisco Chronicle “The Great Inversion and the United Nations agree; the world is becoming more urban by the day . . . To Ehrenhalt’s credit, he does not pass moral judgment on the process. With clear prose that is both informative and entertaining, he objectively states the facts (and presents a great number of voices from immigrant businessmen and local civil servants to politicians from Elite African-American families and developers), leaving his readers free to render their own verdict.” —Joshua Bloodworth, Dominion of New York“Most writers on cities are either cheerleaders or naysayers. Ehrenhalt is neither, and he has written a balanced, hard-hitting book that is a persuasive forecast of our complex urban future.” —Witold Rybczynski, author of Makeshift Metropolis“[The Great Inversion] is a serious, provocative, and gracefully written, and consistently interesting look at how the urban-suburban balance is shifting.” —Better! Cities & Towns“The author’s historical perspective helps shape his provocative view.” —Kirkus Reviews

Alan Ehrenhalt has written a fascinating account what he calls a recent "demographic inversion" - not, thank you, "gentrification" - in which immigrants now tend to enter American society via the suburbs rather than the core city, the poor abandon or are driven from the core city into the suburbs via loss of livelihood, taxes, and buyouts, and those who can afford it take up residence in the urban core for entertainment, social amenities, and quicker commutes. Ehrenhalt provides a variety of different takes on the ways in which this process is unfolding, to varying degrees of success, in exemplary urban neighborhoods - Chicago's Sheffield, Brooklyn's Bushwick, Cleveland Heights, Gwinnett County northeast of Atlanta, and many more, all related in clear, felicitous prose.Among my favorite chapters were those in which Ehrenhalt chronicled and assessed the fall and rise of the Clarendon section of Arlington, brought about by the by arrival of Vietnamese shop and restaurant owners to properties emptied out by the disorder and loss of business due to Metro construction, and the continuing death spiral of the urban shipwreck that is Philadelphia, or, as some locals call it, "Bostroit," for its unique 18th-century core in close proximity to areas of utter blight, drug dens, and boarded up row houses, all a result of the rapid post-industrial loss of manufacturing and port services. And yes, sports fans, Ehrenhalt lingers for a while on an aspect of Philly most of you will recognize, as "the only large American city in which no one is surprised when parade watchers boo Santa Claus, where fans boo their sports teams for failing to win a second consecutive championship, or where grandmothers at the stadium insult spectators who happen to be wearing the wrong jersey." In Ehrenhalt's account, the cities that are gaining ground in the postindustrial world are cosmopolitan and diverse, and for the most part tolerant; Philadelphia, on the other hand, strikes the author and his Philly sources as provincial, parochial, and hyperlocally intolerant - for good and explicable historical reasons.Although the numbers don't quite line up exactly as Ehrenhalt might wish - between the last two censuses, more people still migrated to the suburbs than to the cities, and in many urban areas that are repopulating, the downtown contingents are still relatively small - the trends he describes nevertheless seem well underway. And some of of what he discusses is wondrous strange and surprising, including the populating of the NY financial district, where, following 9/11 and then in the aftermath of the 2008 financial meltdown, developers repurposed as condos hundreds of office buildings, their occupants having fled to New Jersey and elsewhere in NY and Connecticut. Now, in the area south of Chambers Street, where the 1970 census recorded only 833 residents and which every NY urbanist viewed as the neighborhood least likely to EVER be viewed as residential - Jane Jacobs devoted several pages of "Death and Life" to mocking the very notion - more than 60,000 people, drawn in part by post-9/11 and post-meltdown incentives, are now living. And on Sunday there are couples with strollers! Our contemporary Zeitgeist is urban - just look at the numbers of city books now cluttering the book reviews and (remaining) bookstore shelves - and, lured by entertainment, nightlife, and the hum of the city, an entire generation is going to the towns we boomers evacuated for the suburbs. The question, of course, is, "will the Millennials raise their children there?" I think so. I would. (How you gonna keep 'em down on the farm, etc.?) And what about the suburbs? When I look around the suburban neighborhoods of northern Virginia, from which evidence Ehrenhalt supports his case, I see confirmation: the urban spaces are repopulating with people having more disposable income, the DC metro inner suburbs are hyperethnic, the suburban spaces are building urban amenities ("town-centers"). Meanwhile, the tract-home New Jersey neighborhood I grew up in, which contained NO - count them, NO - persons of color, is now fully international and delightfully diverse (and, in support of Ehrehalt's major argument, crumbling as well). My home borough has growing South Asian, East Asian, and Hispanic populations, all of whom are reflected in the multi-lingual signage of local main streets. The book's brief final chapter is, sadly, weak on informed prognostication, apart from the crowning observation that we should expect more of the same. For me, however, that doesn't undermine the brilliance of the foregoing text or the empirical validity of the case studies. In short, the main lines of The Great Inversion ring true to me, and I found Ehrenhalt's monograph essential reading as I seek to get my arms around city dynamics, trendlines, issues, politics, and constituencies.

I'm always suspicious of books that tell me what I want to hear -- in this case that central cities are becoming more popular than distant suburbs in metropolitan areas across the country. Ehrenhalt makes his case effectively but also qualifies his position with opposing arguments and acknowledgment of the uncertainty that surrounds any predictions. The author uses a diverse array of cities as case studies, and he deserves praise for being one of the few urbanist authors to write about Phoenix in a way that is balanced and accurate. He rightly identifies the city's strengths (e.g. its extraordinarily successful light rail line) and its weaknesses (e.g. the unreasonable expectation of ubiquitous free parking) and blends them to reach an informed conclusion free of the smug condescension and gratuitous derision that mars many other writings about Phoenix.

I bought this book about five or six days ago and uploaded it to my Android, thinking I would read a few pages here and there over the next few months. I couldn't stop reading it, and finished it in days. The dilemmas confronting cities over how to attract people to an urban core as well as how to urbanize suburban areas are very interesting, and as the other reviewer noted, the author is very even-handed in his treatment of life-style preferences regarding cars, density, etc. (In this sense he is unlike the suburban advocate Joel Kotkin, who often writes with a sneer about the urbanists he disagrees with.)I currently live in urban San Francisco with two small children, so the issues discussed here were very relevant. We can't afford to buy a house here, or at least one we would want in a neighborhood we would like. I'm going to be moving to Los Angeles soon, and this book helped me think about what I value in a future house, neighborhood, and commute down in that area.Highly recommended!

If you're in to non-fiction and love reading about cities, people, and even a bit of sociology, this read is for you. I enjoyed the book being broke down by city and how each movement of people groups occurred. The book discusses multiple time periods with the most recent occurring during the great recession. The author's points are well-articulated and though provoking. A truly enjoyable read.

Loved this book! Great read about the evolution of cities. Easy to read but educational also. I live in Chicago and was fascinated by the description of how our city is changing. Just one city of many that are focused on in this book.

Very good book. As someone who lives in a gentrifying area and seeing the different agendas, social friction, etc it was interesting to see the process in a wider view. Many good examples of urban change were illustrated. Good reading.

I'm so happy I read this book! I was personally interested in the subject before reading, so admittedly it wasn't hard to convince me of the validity of the central thesis. Yet, the subject is so scrupulously well- researched (just check out the references pages at the end for proof!) That I think it would still be thought provoking and highly readable even for someone who doesn't agree with the main argument. I'll definitely be recommending this title.

Too bad that what finally drives the American young back to the city is their inability to get a job that pays enough to own a car. Like the underclass of old, our young now have to live very near where they work -- exploited at that makes them. But, the city lives.

"The supplements from Cengage for this text were impressive. This was one of the reasons this text was adopted. Other publishers and authors didn't provide supplements surprisingly enough but Cengage comes through in a big way when it comes to supplements for this text! The case studies are spot on for learning a subject such as Torts and these case studies hit home with the practical skills essential to becoming a successful and valuable paralegal. The variation of the cases was also pleasing from an instructor's point of view.""The writing style is excellent and the level is appropriate; better than the competing texts. The concepts are explained clearly and with sufficient depth."

UmmI thought it was in good condition. It was hilighted by someone who thought EVERYTHING was important— not a big deal ! BUT .. when I came to page 34 , page 35&36 was missing!I didn’t even look further into the book to see if any other pages were missing since I’m too busy trying to get a copy of the text to read and do my assignment.

Tort is a difficult class but this book is written in the best possible way

This is a great study book for those who enjoy studying AZ LAWES AND CASE REVIEWS. It very over priced for a Paper-Back @ $155.+change. Seems a better price level would be around $89-$99 dollars. Believe the price is set due it being considered a TEXT BOOK!

Arrived in good condition

the pages are falling out of this book. I keep gluing and putting the pages back into this book. disappointed that it is falling apart.

There are pages missing on the book and it seems like it is falling apart.

College book. Not much to say

Didn't check the rest of the pages. but in chapter 9, their are scribbles on some of the pages, but other than that the product is good.

Review

"Every once in a while, a cookbook comes along that simply knocks me out. The new book...is from L.A.-based wife and husband team Zoe Nathan and Josh Loeb, who own Huckleberry Bakery and Caf? in Santa Monica, as well as Milo & Olive, Sweet Rose Creamery, and Rustic Canyon. Their book is filled with wonderful tips about life and baking but what inspires me most is that I want to make every single recipe in this book! The beautiful photographs draw you in and the recipes are both rustic and elegant- plus, they're easy to make. Next for me, Baked Apples with Oat Crumble - the ultimate comfort food with a modern twist!" -- Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa"What I love most about Zoe is that she's neither afraid to be too casual nor too picky about the final product and somehow manage to find a hilarious balance amidst the madness, like a true teacher. From one down-home American baker to another, her balance of creating from the humored heart and nurturing soul is one that is instinctual and inspiring. "- Christina Tosi, chef/owner and founder of Momofuku Milk Bar and author of Momofuku Milk Bar"This book is Zoe's uber-personal and uber-delicious celebration of her passion and love for cooking and baking. I want to eat every gorgeous recipe and play hooky in her kitchen (especially if I can stay for staff meal)! - Suzanne Goin, chef/restaurateur and author of The A.O.C. Cookbook and Sunday Suppers at Lucques"I love what Zoe Nathan has crafted at Huckleberry, from the ridiculously delicious salted caramel squares to the Brisket Hash. An extraordinary bakery-one of my favorites-and now a delicious book, too."-Elijah Wood, actor"Huckleberry by Zoe Nathan is an all-around stunning book. From the immaculate food photography to the craving-inducing recipes to the yellow polka-dot pattern adorning the pages, Huckleberry is everything you could hope for in a bakery cookbook - and then some. Nathan's witty stories bring you right into the heart of her kitchen, and it's easy to feel like she's unlocked her bakery doors for you and invited you in for a tour." - FoodNetwork.com"Here you'll find a hearty helping of Zoe Nathan's generous approach to baking-a rare balance of comfort and craft with attitude."- Chad Robertson, co-owner of Tartine Bakery and author of TARTINE BOOK NO. 3"From the ingenious Tips and Secrets at the beginning to the Apologies (instead of acknowledgments) at the end, this bright, funny, sumptuous collection of (mostly) breakfasts and pastries, conjures the happy morning you imagine eating this food. Zoe Nathan's love for rustic, delicious food pours forth from the pages. Already a staple in my house." - Gwyneth Paltrow, actress, lifestyle guru, and author of It's All Good"Filled with entertaining behind-the-scenes stories and technical tips relayed in plain English, this cookbook will thrill meticulous bakers and Huckleberry's devotees." - Library Journal"...a breakfast book that has you cheering for Nathan and her story and her food before its first recipe; you'll be hugging it, unironically, by the end. It's full of photos that toe the food porn-line but dismount squarely on the classy side, Mary Lou Retton-Style. Her recipes feel familiar (many a muffin, scone, cake, fruity baked thing, and brunchy egg dish), but they're somehow more. They are unfussy but still special, still at home in a book whose fore-edge design is a bright canary yellow with white polka dots." - food52"[Nathan's] first cookbook covers foods from Huckleberry, both sweet and savory, healthy and indulgent. It also happens to boast possibly the most drool-worthy cover of all 2014 releases, shot by photographer/blogger Matt Armendariz." - Eater

Maybe I am the odd person out in that I don't go to Huckleberry for the bakery goods but rather for their delicious salad and sandwich offerings, so I was hoping to see more of those in this book since the description cites savory foods. Even so, those that are included are delicious, especially if you like finding new ways with eggs.A few specifics: even though avocado toast has been a staple in my family for decades, Huckleberry's Smashed Avocado Toast with Hard-Boiled Eggs and Anchovy Dressing takes it to an insanely delicious new level. My son would say that that recipe alone is worth the price of this book. Fortunately, there are quite a few more than that. The Vegetarian Croque is wonderful as are the frittatas. The Polenta with Roasted Asparagus, Crispy Prosciutto and Egg is quite good without the polenta! Next, I'm looking forward to tackling the house-cured salmon. This is a beautiful cookbook. Tons of photos of the food as well as instructional photos. Hopefully the next one will have more of the salad and sandwich recipes I was expecting.

I'm a professional baker. I'm always dumbfounded people review cookbooks without having tried a single recipe. So I wanted to try a few before reviewing. We use adapted recipes from a variety of different cookbooks everyday at the bakery where I work. I was stoked to get this cookbook because I also trust Ina (and love Elijah Wood!), and the fact that Zoe trained at Tartine which is all the rage right now... But sadly, something is way off with these recipes. The chocolate chunk muffins are NOT okay. The chocolate glazed donuts were a disaster. Soggy fried mess. (We make donuts at the store every Sunday). The maple bacon biscuits were flavorful but pretty dense. They were scones really. (Yes, I know how to make a biscuit and the count was super off for what they said to make). Two stars rather than one because I do love the stories. They did a good job making it personal, a real glimpse into a bakery. And the lemon cornmeal cake came out perfect. The hippie apple muffins were good. Also know that the muffin recipes that do come out are like birthday cake rather than a muffin texture. I'm not sure if they use flours with different moisture content and they're not super up front about that. I don't know. But I don't have disasters with Ina's recipes. Ever. I've not had any disasters like this in a long time. With that said, I'm sure everything at the actual bakery is delicious. But aside from the lemon cornmeal I am super bummed with these recipes.

Even though this book is lovely and has a lot of amazing recipes I can't wait to try, there are some errors. For the blueberry brioche (pg. 108) the weight measurement does not correctly correspond to the volume measurement. It calls for 1 cup + 2 Tbsp of AP flour and equates that to 280 grams. That's incorrect. Same mistake is done for the bread flour (1 cup + 2 Tbsp does not equal 280 grams). I always follow weight measurements, I wish I had checked the volume measurement prior to doing so. It was a dry disaster, wasting over 4 cups of flour and 4 eggs.1 cup + 2 Tbsp is about 140 grams. I made it over using 140 grams of AP flour and 140 grams of bread flour and it worked. Check recipes prior to starting to ensure weight and volume measurements equate.I also wish there was perhaps a little more explanation for temperatures. Should eggs be brought to room temperature? And how warm is slightly warm milk? Type-A personality kicking in here. Just some minor issues, but overall lovely book. Glad I purchased it. Can't wait to try some other recipes. Hope this helps!

Wow. I was so excited about this book. The chocolate chunk muffins look beautiful in the book, so I decided to make them this morning. Twice. The first time, I followed the recipe to an absolute T. The results were nothing less than disastrous. (I posted a picture below. This was after I had to remove half the batter from the muffin cups because of the overflow.) I make hundreds of muffins a week, and have never seen results like this. I decided to try again because I was determined to have chocolate chunk muffins. This time, I used half the amount of yogurt, and did not use a mixer like the recipe says to do. They turned out better, but still sunk in the middle. The taste was decent, but they looked terrible. The texture is super light and airy, not dense like you would expect from a muffin. Waste of money on the book, and on ingredients. Now I am to afraid to try anything else in the book. Ridiculous.

The pictures are beautiful, the recipes inviting but the mistakes are unforgivable ! Baking is like chemistry really no room for error ! It is hurtful to waste expensive chocolate, butter, flour and eggs making muffins that are so bad they go in the trash. I want to love this book but I will not bake anything else in this book. I will move on to breakfast items with the hope I do not discover any mistakes. I hope someone edits future editions and makes corrections. Heartbreaking !
